What is it?

An Experience in Self Discovery™ is a dynamic workshop that gives people courage to “unmask” their leadership potential.

The workshop uses mask-making to help people understand how intuition fits into their personal leadership style.

An Experience in Self Discovery™ helps people dig through the familiar intellectual realm of thought and action to uncover the multitude of experiences that makes us who we are.

How does it work?

We provide all the materials and set the stage for meaningful exchange within your group. The room is transformed into a creatively-charged enclave where judgment is suspended and where participants focus on the process of self-discovery.

People pair up and each casts the other’s face with warm plaster wraps. Sound outside the comfort zone? You bet—people encounter their intuitive side only after taking that first step into unfamiliar territory.

After a two-minute drying period, the masks are removed from the faces. People find themselves looking into 3-dimensional self portraits. They literally come face-to-face with themselves for the first time.

Then the decorating begins.

We break out a vast array of trinkets, feathers, fabric, paint… that people use to decorate their masks. The goal is for each person to rely on feelings to choose the trinkets, colors and textures that represent the qualities and experiences that make that person tick. We turn to the realm of signs and symbols to communicate our stories, the stories that make us who we are and give us our foundation from where we lead.

The last step is the explanation. People stand up and show their masks to the group. As each person explains the symbolism in their masks, the personal qualities and defining experiences represented there become as apparent as their intellectual qualities.

The finished mask serves as a reminder of both the intuitive leadership qualities and the discovery process that uncovered them.

An Experience in Self Discovery™ gives participants a chance to show themselves (and their peers) the intuitive leader living inside them. The workshop opens lines of communication between the intellect and the intuition, the two aspects of every person necessary for excellent leadership.
