A school or class handshake casting event is a great springboard for discussion of issues concerning respect and tolerance in classes of all ages and abilities. The kit has been used successfully in settings that promote experiential education, including gifted and talented and special education classes.
Our Educator's Kit includes a standards-based teacher's Toolbox© with all the information and materials for educators to lead a discussion about the history of the handshake and how people use hand gestures around the world in greetings. The Toolbox© also includes the educational standards addressed and assessed by this activity, with a student self-assessment and a rubric.
The kit includes enough materials to create 25 sculptures. That's enough for 50 participants. Kit materials do not spoil, so they can be used at any time.
