- Maggie Sherman worked with Sid Parnes, founder of the 54 year old Creative Education Foundation, to make a permanent memory of the hands that co-invented Creative Problem Solving.
The resulting collaboration produced an autographed “HandBook” made from Sid’s casted hands, filled with handmade papers of Egyptian papyrus and Thailand mango fiber, and bound together with Vermont sumac sticks. This artist’s book was auctioned at the Creative Problem Solving Institute’s annual conference (June '09) in Danvers, MA and raised $2,000 for the organization to promote and educate children and adults in creative thinking throughout the world.
The Creative Problem Solving Institute (CPSI – www.cpsiconference.com ), a program of the Creative Education Foundation, is the oldest and longest running conference dedicated to the teaching and practice of creativity and innovation.
- With trademark humor, the Economic Development Division of CEDO has produced a forty-five second spot designed to inform the public of the top notch advice and award-winning publications they offer. Filmed and produced by Burlington College film student Ben Youngbaer of Purple Duck Pictures, the public service announcement stars Honey the Professional Waitress™ and Mayor Bob Kiss, features cameos by Ben Cohen, Jerry Greenfield, and Priscilla Lane and was shot on location at Sadie Katz Diner. - Maggie Sherman and Leila Bandar co-teachers of Art of the Social Imagination believe that personal interests and experience are the best teachers. Personal experience can be shocking, provocative, and ultimately the key to self-discovery.
Art of the Social Imagination addresses making art as a tool. It is a tool for raising social awareness, activism, involvement, and enhanced sense of purpose.
